Captain Michael MacLeod (aka Michael Lampe). Captain Michael is the cannoneer, swashbuckler, illustrator and along with Jamaica Rose, co-author of the "Book of Pirates". Michael Lampe was born into a Navy family and inherited his father’s love for the sea and all things nautical. He spent his early years traveling the world with his family. After serving in the military himself, he headed north to Thule, Greenland for a few years, before settling in Phoenix, Arizona. There he first fell in with pirates – the Corsairs (an offshoot of the Society for Creative Anachronism).  Later, he moved to California, where he could sail on tall ships and learn the arts of the sailor.  There he met and then married Christine; a lovely lass that he encountered on his first Pirate cruise. They signed articles with a local pirate crew, and took over publishing the group’s newsletter. In 1993 they helped found a new group called the Port Royal Privateers.  At the same time, they founded a new magazine for all those interested in piracy and privateering.  Thus No Quarter Given came about.  Michael has had parts in several movies and documentaries: Hook, Quest for Captain Kidd, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, True Caribbean Pirates, Real Pirates of the Caribbean, and more. He is the captain of an acting/stunt group called the No Quarter Given Buccaneers. Which supplies actors for a variety of productions including photo shoots, live action, movies and television. His latest project was supplying pirates and props for the Deadliest Warrior “Pirates versus Knights” episode. He was recently elected to the prestigious Order of Leviathon, as one of the twelve most notorious Piratical Rogues in America. [Photo by Tiger Lee] (Note one of he Py-Rats sleeping in his hat)

Jamaica Rose Barton (aka Christine Markel Lampe).

Jamaica Rose is the artist, chartmaker, navigator and co-author of the "Book of Pirates". Christine was “kidnapped” by pirates in 1988 when a friend invited her on a pirate cruise aboard a local tallship.  Signing articles, she joined the local pirate crew and thus the character of “Jamaica” Rose Barton was born.  Fascinated by the history of the period she started researching pirates.  She and her husband Michael (a notorious rogue captain she met on that first cruise), took over the publication of the pirate crew’s newsletter, and began writing articles on history, costuming, and persona.  Later, this spurred them on to create a magazine for and about all pirates.  Founded in 1993, No Quarter Given’s circulation has grown to include an international readership, and has become known as THE Piratical Clearinghouse.  The two of them can often be found selling their No Quarter Given publications, her artwork, and other pirate swag at faires, re-enactments, and maritime events.  They are also both founding members of the Port Royal Privateers crew (also founded in 1993).  Christine has become known as a leading authority on pirates and has been used as a technical consultant for books, movies, and documentaries (most recently seen as a commentator on True Caribbean Pirates).  [Photo by Noelle Rose]
